Vans X Nasa
This week an Instagram leaks account posted a rather intriguing photo of a potential Vans X NASA collaboration. The shoe in question was a classic Old Skool, with subtle text on the side, a removable velcro American flag and a custom shoe tongue. At first, many believed this to be nothing more than a custom shoe. However, after checking the original leakers account (@dirtymoney823) he seems to be rather reliable when it comes to possible releases.
This almost looks like a Tom Sachs shoe, but I’m loving the removable American flag. This allows for an insane amount of customization with any velcro patch being a possibility. Its genuinely surprising that not many mainstream shoes have utilized this yet. The bulk of the shoe seems to be leather, and it looks like a quality shoe – I would expect nothing less from Vans. The text references John F. Kennedy Space Center, with the red NASA logo really standing out. This has to be one of the best vans shoes of the year so far, and is definitely a definite pick up for the summer. A great silhouette, with even better additions.
So far theres has been no official word from the Vans account, or a NASA affiliate, so all this is speculation. But, a reputable leaks twitter account (@StreetNightLive) posted the picture above, seeming to show more pairs of possible shoes. The other silhouettes included a SK8-HI MTE, SK8-HI ZIP and a Classic Slip-On. The SK8-HI’s are very clearly NASA related, almost looking like moon boots, unlike the slip-ons that, from the current images, simply have a galaxy image on them. The best part about this leak is that there is a possible release date – October 1st.
Stay tuned with us at StyleStreet as we learn more – but so far this is shaping up to be one of the best footwear release of the year.
